| | 5.12.2007 Komi Young People visit the Khanty in JamalThis summer, two young people from Syktyvkar spent a few weeks among the Khanty in Jamal. The trip was designed to encourage and develop relationships between these neighbouring nations on opposite sides of the Ural Mountains. The group, which included Estonians, Russian-Estonians, Khanty, Nenets, Russians and two Komi, spent two weeks visiting villages along the Ob river.
A special treat for the Komi participants, was meeting with some local Komi who live in Jamal, east of the Urals. While the dialect of Komi was considerably different, they welcomed their relatives with open arms. | |
